| Darryl Brown Departs ABC Radio
Brown notes that the first order of business with his new endeavor is to see through plans already underway at ABC that aim to connect to the Hispanic listener. "I will continue to move our initiative forward," he says. "We have some pretty aggressive programming initiatives for 2008, and I don't want to walk away from that; I want to see it come into its own." He adds, "We have a strong history, and I love that we still have ABC News backing us, a well respected research arm, and a sales department that has the respect it has." Discussing his decision to step away from his official capacity after so many years with ABC, Brown discussed the increasing importance of family in his life. "My focus is my 6-year-old and 3-year-old sons. With fatherhood and parenting, life has taken on a different meaning.

A Veteran Arts Leader Returns to the Nashville Ballet
When Andrea Dillenburg, marketing director at the Nashville Ballet, followed her husband to his new job and moved to Atlanta in 1999, she figured she'd see Music City again only as a visitor. In the years that followed, Ms. Dillenburg, now 44, worked as a fund raiser at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Alliance Theatre, but she kept in touch with the ballet by donating money and occasionally driving four hours each way to watch performances. Ms. Dillenburg's continued interest in the now 21-year-old company partly stemmed from her relationship with several of the ballet's founders, whose dedication she admired. "It wasn't just a place to work; it was their place to work," she says. "That kind of heart you almost cannot define in terms of caring." In July, Ms.
Hillary Stuns--Four Theories
2) Nagourney's conclusion, and that of most other MSM pundits, assumes you can analyze which campaign won and which lost without assessing the truth value or appeal of what Geffen said about Hillary. In this "neutral," strategic analysis, Obama lost because he was the positive candidate lured into going "negative." Doesn't it matter whether Geffen's charges were true--or at least rang true--or were baloney? "Objective" reporters are uncomfortable making such judgments, but those are the judgments voters will be making. If Geffen was giving voice to what lots of Democrats were actually thinking about Hillary, and if by doing so he in effect gave Dems permission to stop suppressing these objections, and if those objections are powerful, he could have done Hillary damage even if her brilliant staff lured an Obama press aide into putting out a snarky press release.
Face of hope: Fire in childhood left scars, but speaker's spirit stays ...
The multiple skin grafts and the wound dressings didn't cease until he was 18.It was around that time he started speaking publicly about his experience. What started as a small talk at his church youth group in high school has morphed into something huge. Sonnenberg, now 30, spends half the year traveling the United States and much of the world. He tells the details of the accident, but the overarching message is one of acceptance, of fortitude, of forgiveness and healing. It's a message that translates well wherever he speaks, from the crime-ridden streets of Bogota, Columbia, to Hanover, Pa., where he'll speak Saturday and Sunday at the Hanover First Church of God."I am a testament of what the true American dream is all about," Sonnenberg said. "You can have, literally, a lump of coal in an infant seat sitting on the side of the road and take that lump of coal and make it shine for the world." .
Rebuilding Liberals' shattered remnants
This will take time, patience and immense political skills. Whether these elements are there in sufficient quantity remains to be seen. The battle losses for the Liberals were heavy, and the next generation of leaders is probably not yet in parliament. It is therefore time for real change. Peter Costello and Alexander Downer, who have removed themselves from leadership contention, must be told to go and make way for fresh blood, as should the likes of Philip Ruddock and Bronwyn Bishop. It needs to re-establish credibility as a political force. The party has to analyse the reasons for its defeat, and it has to address those issues that caused it. It has to be both an effective opposition and an alternative government; it must not just sit back and carp, as it did back in 1972 and 1983.
